Never heard of him?\u00a0<br \/><br \/>I rest my case. My mother, post-diagnosis; <br \/>My father so stabbed and ravaged by an era\u2019s\u00a0<br \/><br \/>revolutions he had to wrap himself <br \/>In bloodied sheets and bandages,\u00a0<br \/><br \/>A poor second skin to meet the world <br \/>as words and institutions were being\u00a0<br \/><br \/>pilloried all around him. He also <br \/>had to be wondering if he would be\u00a0<br \/><br \/>among the five percent Who get to keep <br \/>their hair. My mother said She\u2019d divorce him\u00a0<br \/><br \/>if he ever got a motorcycle. He was always so <br \/>Naked, while my mother was ever in uniform:\u00a0<br \/><br \/>Khaki, denim, sweatshirts. Such was the highlight <br \/>Of their union, for one purpose, to absorb this<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>smiting of enemies, though at a careful distance. <br \/>Yet night after night after night. Days were\u00a0<br \/><br \/>Shorter then, as was the need for vengeance.\u00a0<br \/>Sinners think heaven is administered\u00a0<br \/><br \/>By their victims: Names they\u2019ve expelled <br \/>Temporarily into dustbins; or on to the covers\u00a0<br \/><br \/>Of books with titles that now go unmentioned. <br \/>Don\u2019t look up that reference because you just\u00a0<br \/><br \/>Might find yourself liking the wrong kind <br \/>Of system. I can\u2019t stand the suspense,<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>The finely-wrought indecision. I can\u2019t stand <br \/>Not knowing whether there is a god and who\u2019s\u00a0<br \/><br \/>Working with Him: the United Nations, <br \/>the National Register Of Historic Places, maybe\u00a0<br \/><br \/>the Farm Bureau And Henry Wallace, seated right <br \/>up there with Saint Peter And other diminished vice presidents.\u00a0<br \/><br \/>Let\u2019s have a roll call of all the people needed now <br \/>like stewardesses and pilots on a bad LSD trip,\u00a0<br \/><br \/>Though it would be an elitist exercise, wouldn\u2019t it, <br \/>Since We all have different precedents. Mine are\u00a0<br \/><br \/>Embedded in the religion of my parents, a clear <br \/>And diligent clarifying of the fat with a handful\u00a0<br \/><br \/>Of scruff off the back of a model, four good legs <br \/>And horns in progress. Can\u2019t you guess?
