Tuesday was election day. Wednesday morning this link was in my Twitter inbox, sent from a leader of the local resistance. I chose to share it in lieu of a poetic editorial. Nothing I could write would be as poetic as this.<\/h4>\n\n

After tonight, there will be a lot of talk about KY & VA, and rightfully so. But let me tell you bout a place called Plymouth, NC. <\/em><\/p>

Plymouth: population just <4,000 At least 63% Black, but has never had a Black mayor. Nor has its city council ever been majority Black.<\/em><\/p>

Both of those facts changed tonight. In gaining their first Black mayor, voters in Plymouth had to defeat an 18 year incumbent. <\/em><\/p>

When activists in Plymouth wanted help to mobilize voters in their community, some may have said \u201cyour town is too small.\u201d <\/em><\/p>

Others may have said, \u201cyou don\u2019t have a major race at the top of the ticket. No gubernatorial. No congressional.\u201d <\/em><\/p>

Some may have said, \u201cthe cost per vote is to high,\u201d or \u201cthe ROI is too low.\u201d At <\/em>@BlackVotersMtr<\/em><\/a> we asked, \u201cwhat do you need?\u201d <\/em><\/p>

And after some canvassing, texting and strategic support, folks in Plymouth have made history tonight. <\/em><\/p>
