That extra chair
That sits in the garage all year
I call mine
Tomorrow it becomes my niece’s spot
When I become a float
Down a popular city street
a cartoon-ized balloon
an aged reference
a holiday needing a reboot
Today, can I be laid out on the table?
I want to be the sweetness
A makeshift resemblance
Of your mother’s handmade centerpieces
My someday home will have a someday holiday
The kids’ table will be nearly full
Grandma’s spot, now mom’s seat
You’ll still be holding my hand underneath a plastic table cover
While I sit in my spare holiday chair
