Until further notice, Line Rider Press will not be accepting new submissions; however, we look forward to hopefully continuing our weekly featured poems at a later date. Thanks for your support.

We typically accept poetry submissions year-round. Submitting your work is free. We aim to feature a different poet’s work on our homepage every week. We also publish artwork and music, art, or book reviews. If your poem is accepted for publication, we may also invite you to be part of our poet interview series.

What We’re Looking For

We are interested in writing that takes risks and abandons the sterility of so much contemporary poetry.  We want poetry that is authentic and sincere – poetry that risks sentimentality yet avoids clichés.

We emphasize accessibility and discourage overly-highbrow or abstract poetry. Yet, we also maintain that the most powerful poetry is rooted in images, stories, and human experience while avoiding sloganeering and platitudes. We encourage politically-minded poetry.

We also accept essays and reviews that highlight independent and underground music, film, and art. We aim to celebrate and explore works of art that enrich working-class life, communities, and society. We also love publish original artwork. We welcome poets to submit art if they have a specific image they’d like to be featured alongside their poem.

Submission Guidelines:

  • Send all submissions as word documents to: lineriderpress@gmail.com
  • Please include your name followed by the words “Poetry Submission” in the subject line (i.e. “John Doe Poetry Submission”).
  • Poetry must be submitted as one continuous word doc.
  • Please limit poetry entries to five poems per submission.
  • Please include a (very) brief bio and cover letter (1-2 sentences each) in the body of the email.
  • Artwork and reviews should be submitted following the guidelines above (i.e. put “Jane Doe Art Submission” in the subject line). Send artwork as an image attachment.

Other Information:

  • We are a volunteer run press, so please give us at least three months to respond to submitted work.
  • We accept simultaneous submissions but require that you contact us if the work is accepted elsewhere.
  • Each fall, we release an anthology and/or a published book or chapbook. Full-length manuscripts should be 50-100 pages and chapbooks 16-30 pages. We are not currently accepting manuscript submissions.
